Counting smaller dogs (size that can be picked up & carried by a person) : 匹 (ひき)
一匹 (いっぴき)、二匹 (にひき)、三匹(さんびき)...

Counting large dogs & trained dogs with jobs (police dogs, rescue dogs, service dogs etc) : 頭 (とう)
一頭 (いっとう)、二頭 (にとう)、三頭 (さんとう

The pitch accent of 赤い(あかい) starts low at the word level.
However, when it’s in mid sentence, the accent is often reduced and flattened to avoid sudden fluctuations. This sounds more natural in real life conversations.

花(はな) and 鼻(はな) are pronounced exactly the same.
So how do we distinguish the two in spoken conversations?

🌼The pitch accent goes down on the particle after 花. (Exception: の)
👃The pitch accent stays high on the particle after 鼻.
